MOBA Partners with Frameworks Connect, LLC to Provide up to date Construction News & Training

The need for the most recent construction information is more important now than ever before. Builders can find the latest news, building and energy codes, resources, training seminars and even EPA and OSHA updates all in one place. Check out the newest information at http://www.FrameworksMagazine.com

Bellevue, NE upgrades to ICC 2009 Building Codes     The International Code Council posted new testing standards for Bellevue, NE. This just confirms that Bellevue has officially implemented ICC 2009 Building Codes. Test criteria for Omaha, NE has not changed. Contractors will still require a minimum passing grade of the 2006 IBC and/or 2006 IRC test (Test #616C is for the Class C Residential Construction).

Bellevue has confirmed that if you take the test for Omaha or Council Bluffs, IA, your passing grade on either of those tests will be accepted for licensing. So additional tests will not be required. For more on this story visit http://www.FrameworksMagazine.com/news6.html

New Energy Code Begins August 24th

LB 329, which updates the Nebraska Energy Code from the 2003 IECC to the 2009 IECC and ASHRAE 90.1-2007, was passed by the state's Unicameral Legislature on April 8, 2011 and signed by the Governor on April 14, 2011. The effective date for the new code is August 24, 2011. Everything you need to know about these changes can be found on the Nebraska Energy Office website at  http://www.neo.ne.gov/home_const/iecc/iecc_codes.htm

Residential Construction Fall Protection

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) three month phase-in period ended September 16, 2011. Residential construction employers need to be in compliance with the Agency's new directive to provide residential construction workers with fall protection.

Contractors not in compliance with conventional fall protection but in compliance with the interim guidelines may still be FINED. Be sure to have your site specific safety plan in place as well as your fall protection. Safety should be a priority at every job site.

NAHB has some useful resources concerning Fall Protection and even has made suggestions to OSHA on builders behalf. To read the story go to http://www.nahb.org/fallprotection

Are You Ready for the Lead Rule?

NAHB has learned that the EPA regional offices are stepping up investigations and enforcement against contractors who have allegedly failed to distribute the Renovate Right pamphlet to home owners (or tenants) and collect signed notifications from these customers. The EPA is also reviewing firm records for two certifications - Certified Renovator and Certified Firms - for jobs completed in pre-1978 homes for the appropriate checklists and forms. As a service to its members, NAHB has created checklists, forms, contract language, and more resources to help with compliance for the lead paint rule at: www.nahb.org/leadcompliance

Members can download and use these documents to prepare their businesses.
